Marie has had a heart for people and animals from a very young age. As the needs of others would arise, she would be the first to speak up and work to figure out how to fulfill their needs. As for animals, the tenderness, respect & connection that she exhibits with them is unique & rare.
Marie, from the time she could talk she wanted to be around horses. She’d point them out in every field & asked to ride continually. At 9 her parents gave in and for her birthday she received her first of many riding lessons. Her instructor at the time informed her parents that this was not a fad for Marie, horses will always be in her life somehow.
Others saw her passion & for her 13th birthday she was given her first horse by a mutual friend of her instructor. She was expected to take care of him completely even down to researching the best nutrition for him so that he could gain weight & be healthy. She admits today that her horse saved her life. He helped heal her heart enough for her to stay on this earth.
As she took care of her horse & regular schooling, she took a screenwriting class at Columbus Collage of Art and Design (CCAD) for fun since she has a love for writing. Everyone that participated in the class had the opportunity to enter their screenplay for an opportunity to have it turned into a short film. Out of 22 participants, the top 3 screenplays were chosen & hers was one of those 3. She then directed and helped produce her short film through CCAD. From this experience she started taking adult acting classes for film & commercials, along with classes for special effects (the fake injuries that you would see on TV & movies) at age 15.
At this time in her life, she had other people that saw how she took care of her horse & was given 2 other horses that needed a home. She took these 2 horses in and worked training all three horses in liberty. Connecting with each of them deeply and helping them establish trust with people. Connection with horse and owner is extremely important to Marie because if that trust is broken then someone will be hurt & usually it is the horse that will lose.
By the time she turned 16, she had started a photography business, had a blog to help support others with allergy issues, she was signed with a talent agency out of Columbus Ohio, graduated high school & was accepted into the 2-year Equine Gestalt Coaching Method program (EGCM). A month after graduation high school, she started the EGCM program.
Through her training for EGCM she has had the opportunity to work through her own past trauma along with gaining insight and awareness about herself & others. She now partners with her horses in a co-active coaching approach that helps people work through what is presently affecting their lives. She has a depth of understanding & desire to help people & animals to have the best possible life they can.
Lori fell in love with horses & art as a child. Horses were in Lori’s life while she was young, then were mostly absent as an adult until her daughter Marie turned 9 & started riding lessons. As a child, horses were in the peripheral whereas drawing and doodling on any surface possible was prevalent. Lori loves bright & bold colors that show up in her artwork continually. The bright, playful colors and patterns of the kaleidoscope always brought a sense of wonder and awe to her. This wonder started showing up in her paintings early on and continues to this day as she shares her love of bright colors and bold brush strokes with others. An artist friend of hers called her style fantastical, which she has thoroughly embraced, since her work doesn’t fit into any one specific art style.
Lori married in 1995 once she received her bachelor’s in business administration. After working in the business world, she went back to school receiving her teaching degree in 1998. She taught for several years, then stepped back to focus on her art. During that time, she started her family, which was her first dream come true.
As with everyone’s life, Lori’s has taken many twists and turns. She has worked through many things including healing from abuse, challenges having children, personal health issues, along with being there when her husband became a paraplegic while she was pregnant with their second child in 2004. Life’s challenges have led Lori to have a passionate desire to be a light for others in their lives. Her artwork shows this light through the bright bold colors, defined brush strokes, energy and subject matter she’s chosen. Due to her strong desire to help others heal & the love she has for her horses & daughter she became an Equine Gestaltist. She is dedicated to working with the spouses & families of paraplegics along with & others that are desiring to create their own positive authentic future.
